Connect Tautulli
Add Tautulli to Kochab with its API key for Plex watch history, live activity, and playback stats.
Tautulli watches a Plex server and records what was played, by whom, and how. Kochab reads that record; it does not change Plex settings through Tautulli.
What Kochab exposes through Tautulli
- Live activity: current streams, with the direct play / direct stream / transcode split and a LAN vs WAN breakdown
- Top stats: most active users and most watched titles
- Libraries: per-library play counts
- History: recent plays, and the watch history for a single title
- Analytics charts: plays over time, by hour, by day of week, and per month; top platforms; stream types by user; peak concurrency
Tautulli is one of the richest analytics sources Kochab supports. Where you also run Jellystat or Tracearr, the Analytics screen blends all of them rather than making you pick one.
Not exposed through Tautulli
- Editing Tautulli’s own settings, notification agents, or newsletters
- Managing Plex users or libraries (Tautulli reports on them; it does not administer them)
- Anything about a Jellyfin or Emby server. Tautulli only knows Plex
Before you start
In Tautulli: Settings -> Web Interface -> API. Make sure the API is enabled and copy the API key.
Kochab stores the key in the device keychain and sends it with each request.
Default connection
| Field | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Port | 8181 |
| Scheme | http by default, https if you have set it up |
| Auth | API key as a query parameter (apikey=) |
Add in Kochab
- Open Services -> Add service and choose Tautulli.
- Enter the URL of your Tautulli server (for example
http://192.168.1.10:8181). - Paste the API key.
- Tap Test and add.
Base path behind a reverse proxy
If you serve Tautulli under a path (for example https://example.com/tautulli), include that path in the URL you enter. Kochab appends the API route to whatever base you give it.
TLS
Self-signed certificates use the same trust flow as other services. See Certificate trust.
Tips
- Tautulli only reports what it has recorded, so a freshly installed Tautulli shows very little until it has watched Plex for a while.
- Add Plex as well. Tautulli supplies the statistics; Plex supplies the library, playback, and artwork.
