Connect Tracearr

Add Tracearr to Kochab with its public API key for cross-server streams, alerts, and playback analytics.

Tracearr watches your media servers and records who streamed what, flagging activity against rules you set. Unlike Tautulli (Plex only) or Jellystat (Jellyfin only), one Tracearr can cover Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby together.

What Kochab exposes through Tracearr

  • Recent activity: live streams with the direct play / direct stream / transcode split
  • Alerts: recent rule violations and a 24 hour alert count
  • Flagged users: who tripped a rule, and which violations are acknowledged
  • Resources: server resource readings Tracearr collects
  • Libraries: per-library breakdown across every server Tracearr watches
  • Analytics charts: plays over time, by hour, by day of week, and per month; top platforms; stream types by user; transcode split; peak concurrency; bandwidth; top users and top watched
  • Commands: terminate an in-progress stream
  • Notifications: rule violations, plus media server offline and online events. Kochab cannot register this webhook for you; copy the URL from the service screen and paste it into Tracearr’s own settings

Kochab probes for Tracearr’s v2 API at connect time and uses it when present, falling back to v1 otherwise. You do not need to pick a version.

Not exposed through Tracearr

  • Editing Tracearr’s rules, users, or server list. Set those up in the Tracearr web UI
  • Administering the media servers Tracearr watches

Before you start

In Tracearr: Settings -> API Key. Copy the public API key. Kochab stores it in the device keychain and sends it as a bearer token.

Default connection

Field Typical value
Port 9000 (the API port)
Scheme http by default, https if you have set it up
Auth Public API key, sent as a bearer token

Add in Kochab

  1. Open Services -> Add service and choose Tracearr.
  2. Enter the URL of your Tracearr API (for example http://192.168.1.10:9000).
  3. Paste the public API key.
  4. Tap Test and add.
  5. For push notifications, open the service and tap Copy URL, then paste it into Tracearr’s webhook settings yourself - Kochab cannot write to Tracearr’s config.

Base path behind a reverse proxy

If you serve Tracearr under a path (for example https://example.com/tracearr), include that path in the URL you enter. Kochab appends the API routes to whatever base you give it.

TLS

Self-signed certificates use the same trust flow as other services. See Certificate trust.

Tips

  • Tracearr is an analytics and monitoring surface. Add your media servers to Kochab as well for browsing, playback, and artwork.
  • Where you run more than one analytics source, the Analytics screen blends them rather than making you choose.
  • A newly connected Tracearr needs to sync its servers before the numbers look right.
